Microsoft has perhaps reached its development milestone of Windows 10 and with the last Insider Preview Windows 10 Build 10240 is rumored to be RTM.
Windows 10 Build 10240 is RTM logically and Microsoft will not work further on Windows 10 till they officially release it. The build 10240 will now be directly available to OEM’S and Partners of Microsoft and later Insiders and Windows 7, 8, 8.1 users will get the upgrade to Windows 10.
Microsoft has been working this way since a long time as they come to point where they are done with all development and improvements, this point is RTM milestone. After which Microsoft doesn’t work more on the version and supplies it to Partners and OEM’s.
When Microsoft completed Windows XP development and it reached RTM milestone it was transported to OEM’s on a helicopter. Pretty amusing, isn’t it? Back then we did not have access to latest technology and blogs, social networks, we had to wait for everything. Back then Microsoft would complete development months before release and would reach the RTM milestone pretty early.
But the case is not similar now, as Microsoft revealed RTM builds of Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 on official blog of Windows. Microsoft has released RTM build 10240 and has send to it to all OEM’s to be installed in Windows 10 hardware.
But to inform you Windows 10 has not been completely developed, many more features will be added and other improvements will be done. But with Windows 10 build 10240, Microsoft is sure that it is ready to be out in public for users and OEM’s, so basically it is a starting point to release Windows 10 to public.
Now you must be thinking it will be unstable with many issues and bugs, but that is not the case as Microsoft stopped working on new features and had gone in a feature-lockdown mode a month back before RTM for Windows 10, and worked only on stabilizing and optimizing the current code of features and more. So Windows 10 is completely ready, but Microsoft are not done yet they will come with more feature upgrades for Windows 10 later, as Windows will work like a service and users will receive time to time updates of Windows 10 in Updates Center.
