There are so many Android and iPhone users facing Ghost touch problems. Ghost touch is basically where your phone starts performing an action by itself, making users confused, Applications starts opening and many other actions by itself. These actions on the device are so disturbing and annoying.

Before we jump on fixes first understand which iPhone devices are facing this ghost touch problem. As far we know the problem is quite common in iPhone X. It was confirmed by the company itself that users of iPhone X are facing some issues and they will fix it soon.
However, this problem also affected iPhone XS, XR, 8, 7, 6 and 5. It can affect any phone at any time. So if you got stuck with it try some hand in methods.
First thing first, Clean the Screen
This method looks so simple but it can be a major cause of ghost touch. Basically, by cleaning the device screen, you are clearing the medium which is coming between you and your phone. Clean the device gently and it is recommended to off the device before cleaning. Don’t use windows and household cleaners on your screen.
Remove Screen Protector
We all know screen protector work as a medium to protect your device from scratches. Sometimes they might be a reason for Ghost touch, so if you’re facing the problem in your phone. It is suggested to take out your protector smoothly.
Take of the Case if any
Many of the users suggested that this ghost touch problem is solved when they removed their hard case. Sometimes when we drop our phone our screen got twisted so it is suggested to remove the cover to solve the problem.
Reboot the phone
Restarting your device sometimes solve the problem on their own. Sometimes the issues are only temporarily. To restart your iPhone X or later, follow the steps shown below:
Hold the volume button or side button until the power off slide appear. After that swiping right to off the device, then to restart hold on the same button until apple logo appears.
To restart your I phone 8 or earlier, follow the steps shown below:
Hold on to the top button or side button until the power off slider appears, then swipe right to off the device and to restart hold on to the same until the official logo appears.
Force Restart Your iPhone
Sometimes it is suggested to force restart your device to remove the problem. Following are the instructions to force restart different iPhone devices. To force restart on an iPhone 8 or later, follow these steps:
- Press and release the Volume Up button within a second.
- Press and quickly release the Volume Down button.
- Hold the Side button.
- Release the Side button when the Apple logo appears.
To force restart an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus, follow these steps:
- Press the Volume Down button for a while and the Sleep/Wake button.
- Release both buttons when the Apple logo appears.
To force restart an iPhone 6/6 Plus or earlier, the steps are:
- Hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button.
- Release both buttons when the Apple logo appears.
Software Update
If you’re facing this problem one of the reasons can be your phone is demanding a software update. For this all you have to update the software on your phone.
To look for a software update all you have to do is visit setting then select General and in the further press on software update if there is an update available it will be visible to you. Next thing to do is download the software and install it.
Restore Factory Settings
If all the above options are not working then try a factory reset. This will delete all your stuff so back up your device before moving for it.
To reset your I phone, you have to open Setting then go on General after that select Reset, tap on the content which shows Erase all data. After the successful reset you can restore your data back into the phone.
Recover Your iPhone
If force start doesn’t work on your device you can try Recovery mode. To start recovery mode all you need to do is
- connect iPhone with your laptop and open iTunes
- hold on a second on volume Up button
- press and remove quickly on Volume Down button
- hold on the side button until you enter on recovery mode
if there is some issue in your it will be visible in recovery mode and it further asks you for an update or restores. Wiping off data from here can remove items for permanently so it will be suggested to back up your device before Resetting.
Visit the Official Service Center
If none of the above-shown steps is not working on your device then you have to take it seriously and take your phone to the apple store where it can handle by an expert.
Cover the Light Sensor and possibly the Front Camera on waking/starting the device.
