Motorola, which was chosen by Google to manufacture the flagship Google Nexus 6, is launching the Andriod Lollipop touting device in India soon. You won’t get any brownie points for guessing the online retailer. Flipkart Of course!!
After tasting success with the Moto series of phones, Motorola has obviously chosen Flipkart as its online retail partner. The 32 GB version of the Google Nexus 6 has come up on the website as is listed as coming soon. No word on the possible price yet, but don’t expect this one to be cheap. The Nexus 6 is also yet to be listed on the Google India Play Store as well.
The Nexus 6 is a huge device with an almost 6 inch screen (5.96” to be precise). The display is of AMOLED quality and has a 1440p resolution (2560 x 1440) which puts the pixel density at a whopping 493ppi. The water resistant device also comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Nexus 6 will be the first device to run the Android Lollipop OS and is powered by a 2.7GHz Quad-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 CPU. Graphics processing is taken care of by the Adreno 420 GPU and the device has 3GB of RAM.
Nexus 6 comes with huge 3220mAH battery and has an internal memory of either 32GB/64GB. No expansion slots to increase the memory though. The Nexus 6 is not light either at 184 grams and has a thickness of 10.1mm. It has a 13MP rear cam with the dual LED ring flash, Optical Image Stabilization, Sony IMX 214 sensor, 4K Video Capture Capability and f/2.0 aperture. The front sports a 2MP cam and dual front facing Stereo Speakers.The Nexus 6 comes with loads of latest connectivity options as well. The device supports 4G LTE / 3G, WiFi 802.11a/g/b/n/ac (dual band), Bluetooth 4.0 LE, GPS, GLONASS, NFC and has loads of sensors as well.
Motorola’s strategy to market this device will most probably be the same one that has given it huge success and has taken it from being nonexistent in the Indian Market to the third largest in just a span of 12-18 months. Whether brick and mortar shops will get to sell the Nexus 6 is something no one knows yet but with Google involved we never know. Watch this space for more.
