Google tied with Indian Railways and RailTel to offer High Speed free Internet named ‘Google RailWire’ to Indian railway stations, and they started making Mumbai Central the first station to get this Free WiFi service back in January this year. And now, there are total 19 stations covered with Free WiFi which includes the newly added Sealdah, Lucknow Jn, Lucknow and Gorakhpur Jn.
After Mumbai Central in January, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Ernakulam Jn, Kacheguda, Pune, Raipur, Ranchi, Vijayawada and Vishakhapatnam got Google RailWire in April followed by Vijayawada, Kachiguda and Raipur in May. Google has already said to bring free internet to 100 stations by the end of 2016, and that’s hopefully will be done.
To use Google RailWire, you just need to go through 3 step procedure. Turn On your phone Wifi and connect to RailWaire, enter your mobile number to receive OTP, enter the OTP and connect. Here’s how you do that:
According to the stats, people on these stations consume 15 times the data which they use on paid 3G data packs. That’s not fair, people. As of now Google is serving about 1.5 million passengers every day with this High speed free WiFi, while they plan more 10 million peoples once the target, which is 400 stations across India is covered with Google RailWire.
