Not only the new spread like a fire, but it also surprised the viewers attending annual Game Developers Conference at Moscone Center in San Francisco, when Google announced it’s all new Game Streaming Platform called ‘Google Stadia’. Yes, this is Google’s first step to Gaming business and probably the end of Gaming Consoles.
While everybody was hoping a streaming console from Google, but Google was more worried about it’s cloud data structure. Using Google Stadia, you don’t need anything to download or install to play a video game from now on. It has become just as simple as pressing a “Play Now” button. As Google Vice President Phil Harrison said, “The new generation of gaming is not a box, The data centre is your platform.”
In last few years, we have witness our music, pictures and movies shifting to cloud and easily accessible to watch anytime from anywhere. Similarly, now is the time to shift video games from physical hardware to digital downloads and streaming. The new Google Stadia will store the game playing session on the cloud and allows users to play it on any device running on Google Chrome browser or Chrome OS, such as Pixel phones or Chromebooks. Be it a PC, Laptop, Smartphone, or any Internet enabled device.
However, playing Games from Cloud will not be as simple as streaming music or videos because the game will require some seriously strong connection. The platform will offer a dedicated Stadia controller. Other than this the WiFi enabled controller will have a button which will allow users to launch a microphone and Google assistant about any questions related to a game. One more button is provided in the game which allows users to share gameplay directly to the company streaming service.
Google also demonstrated two video games, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Doom Eternal, on Stadia during the conference.
It has been assumed that this step from Google is going to be huge for the gaming industry because the platform will allow the users to not spend the money for a gaming PC or console. A company is killing the console concept for permanently. They will be offering a feasible way to play video games.
Google’s approach that ties YouTube sharing and video-game playing is unique. It is not necessarily at this point the easiest thing for people to livestream their games and now you can do it with the push of a button. What they’ve done with Stadia is to connect and unify both the gaming platform and the streaming platform which obviously is new. Research analyst Scott Kessler
However, it is assumed by tech experts that this will bring a lot of trouble in their own house. Because to achieve a better and optimal performance it will require a reliable high-quality internet connection by a user which might not be available at an instant.
As of now, Google has not announced any particular date of launch or availability of Google Stadia, but they assured that it will be available in 2019 for major countries like US, Canada, UK and the parts of Europe. There will be a lot more information about it in the coming months. We will keep you posted.
