Earlier, the Netflix subscription plans were quite an expensive side that it won’t fit in the budget of many people. But to watch their favorite shows, they’ve had to look for someone to share the screen with.
Now, the Netflix Mobile plan will cost just Rs. 199 per month, which is very affordable. There will be SD streaming in this plan and you can also use your tablets under the plan. Also, it doesn’t support content casting.
The original monthly plans for Netflix starts from Rs. 499 and as compared to it, the new mobile is a way much cheaper. Yes, It will not cause a hole in your pocket…!!
The Rs. 199 Mobile plan includes a feature like SD streaming, single concurrent stream support. Apart from this, it will also be available on the tablet. Moreover, the casting content will not be available on this plan.
It is Netflix’s very smart strategy to compete against its rivals in India like Amazon Prime and Hotstar which is owned by Walt Disney’s Unit in India. Netflix even says that the number of mobile subscribers in India is a way greater than anywhere in the world. So, it is a good way to target a number of mobile users in India.
The Rs. 199 plan is in the testing phase right now, but it will soon become available with the other Subscription plans including Rs. 499, Rs. 649 and Rs. 799.
The director of product innovation at Netflix India, Ajay Arora says “Our members in India watch more on their mobiles than members anywhere else in the world – and they love to download our shows and films. We believe this new plan will make Netflix even more accessible and better suit for people who like to watch on their smartphones or tablets – both on the go and at home,”.
Right now, it will be the lowest-priced monthly subscription after Amazon Prime for the Indian users as Hotstar charger Rs. 299 per month and Amazon Prime starts at just Rs. 129 per month.
“We believe this plan, which will launch in Q3, will be an effective way to introduce a larger number of people in India to Netflix and to further expand our business in a market where Pay-TV ARPU is low (below $5). We will continue to learn more after the launch of this plan,” said Netflix in a letter to its shareholders.
