Almost a year ago, Lil Nas X admitted to the world that he is gay after coming out to his sister and father. Before even becoming famous, he was convinced that he would never reveal his true sexuality.
According to the Guardian, he told the following: “The honest truth is, I planned to die with the secret.”
Because of his own experience, Nas is giving support for all the LGBT members that are afraid to come out, saying: “I 100% want to represent the LGBT community. I don’t want to encourage them to do something they don’t 100% want to do.”
The Old Town Road hitmaker admits that he does not talk with his mother. Although the rest of the family is okay with the fact that he is gay, they are all silent about it. “‘My family knows now. But it’s not something that’s ever brought up or we speak about. We’re quiet on it,” he says.
The 20-year-old also confessed that the only reason he told everyone about his secret is that he is now able to take care of himself financially and not depend on anybody, and that, as he said, “there’s no one who’s going to kick me out of the house.”
