This could be really good news for users who rarely get access to Internet. YouTube for Android now got the option of “Offline Mode” in India as well. This feature allows the users to mark any Videos on YouTube as Offline while connected to Internet, you can watch that video later when you are not connected. After announcing this feature at Android One event in September, Google has just started rolling this out. I can still not see the updated YouTube (with Offline Mode feature) in Google Play. Probably this will be done by tomorrow.
Once you get the YouTube update, you will find a new icon saying ‘Available Offline’ just below the video. Just tap the same and video will be available to watch in offline mode as well. You can configure some settings as well about Offline Mode such as setting video quality, internal or SD Card storage, download only on WiFi, etc. To add a video in Offline Mode, you can also do this from video context menu.
YouTube now also creates a new Playlist named Offline where all you offline marked video will be listed to watch. However, there is a limit of this feature. As using this features means the video gets downloaded on your SD Card or internal storage, it consumes space. And if your space running out less than 5 percent, you wont be able to Offline any more video.
Do you think YouTube Offline Mode is useful in anyway?
