Microsoft today announced the most thinnest and lightest Surface so far and an affordable variant of Surface Pro 3, ‘Microsoft Surface 3’. It will hit the market on May 5th at the starting price of $499. Surface 3 features a 10.8 inch ClearType Full HD Plus 10-point multi-touch Display offering 1920 x 1280 pixels resolution and 3:2 aspect ratio. Just like Surface Pro 3, this also supports Pen input but you will have to buy it separately for $50. Pen will be available in four different colors. You can also buy Docking Station separately.
Surface 3 is running on Windows 8.1 operating system and will be upgraded to Windows 10 for free. It is powered with 1.6 Quad-core Intel Atom x7-Z8700 processor (up to 2.4 GHz). As per RAM and storage, the device comes in two different variants which are as follows:
- 2GB of RAM with 64 GB storage
- 4GB of RAM with 128 GB storage
Furthermore, Surface 3 comes with 8 Megapixel rear camera with Auto focus supporting Full HD 1080p video recording. At front facing we get a 3.5 Megapixel shooter which also records 1080p video recording. As far as connectivity is concerned, Surface 3 supports Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac), Bluetooth 4.0 LE, Full USB 3.0, Mini Display port, Micro USB charging port, GPS. It also supports optional LTE connectivity. Other features includes microSD reader, Microphone, Stereo speakers with Dolby Audio-enhanced sound. According to Microsoft, Surface 3 can offer upto 10 hours of Battery life with video-playback.

Microsoft Surface 3 Release Dates:
Surface 3 WiFi variant will start shipping from May 5th, 2015. It will be available world wide by 7th May. While the LTE variant will start shipping from June 26, 2015. It is now available for Pre-Order from Microsoft Store.
