Google has gone through a great way of learning through the phones. The bunch of engineers within the company are developing a new operating system called “Fuchsia”. It came to public notice when the code of the software was pushed on Git Hub on August 2016 without any official announcement.
Google is focusing on developing the operating system that will overcome every limitation of Android, presently the world’s dominating operating system. Fuchsia is capable to run universally on all devices such as embedded systems, smartphones, tablets etc. The giant company was thinking to better the voice interactions and the security updates will roll frequently as per the evidence provided.
All the operating system that google launched prior to Fuchsia are Linux based but this time it’s a contrast. Google has built its operating system on a new microkernel called “Zircon”.The company is ready to fly in the direction of Artificial Intelligence, an area of computer science that emphasizes the creation of intelligent machines that work and react like humans.

So, it all started in 2016 when Google decided to put the code of the software online secretly. Allowing the other app developers to trifle with the code in order to merge the ideas of great people. The company has also started to experiment with its various applications such as YouTube, where it has brought out some interactive screen display and voice command.
The Fuchsia team is planning to make a operating system that will be capable of running on all operating systems like Pixel phones and smart speakers, as well as third-party devices that now rely on Android and another system called Chrome OS.
Putting feather in the cap, the team of engineers wanted to embed Fuchsia to home devices, such as voice-controlled speakers, within three years. So basically, Google is planning to grab the market of Android the software that powers more than three quarters of the world’s smartphones, said the people, who asked not to be identified discussing internal matters. The aim is for this to happen in the next half decade, one person said.
Pichai and Hiroshi, his deputy who runs Android and chrome, have not yet designed any planner as to how to move further and lead to success. The engineers are moving slowly in order to overhaul Android, which is by far the best operating system the world has witness.

Fuchsia is considered as Company’s freewheeling creative approach. “Google views these open-source experiments as an investment in innovation,” a company spokesman said in an email. Earlier it was reported that Google has no plans of replacing its OS Google chrome and which is still stamped by few of its spoke person.
Fuchsia team consist of 100 people from highly great people such as Matias Duarte, a design executive who led several pioneering projects at Google and elsewhere to Duarte, who is working part time in the project.
“Switching away from Android could provide Google the opportunity to hit the reset button on any mistakes they believe they made a decade ago. They might be able to regain some power that they’ve ceded to device manufacturers and telecom carriers.” Jeffrey Grossman, co-founder of messaging app Confide.
In order to remove security concern Fuchsia is having tighter security measures as the code posted online has encryption in it. The engineers have built user keys into the system, a tool that check whether security is provided from both ends. Nick Kralevich, a lead security engineer for Android for nine years, shifted to work on Fuchsia in January, according to his LinkedIn profile.
There are few challenges that will make the flourishment of Fuchsia difficult.
- The first challenge for would be moving away from android and chrome as many applications support these systems. The displacement of the devices cannot be changed within flip of seconds.
- Secondly, Both Android and Chrome are built on Linux kernel. And Fuchsia is built on different technology called “Zircon” which is combination of many of older technologies in Linux. This could make the existing device incompatible.
As everything has its pros and cons, so does Fuchsia. The upsides of Fuchsia for Google are:
- Android’s use of technology is distributed by oracle and Shifting away from using Linux would help Google’s legal case that its software isn’t reliant on Oracle.
- Google has put their longtime personnel on this complicated, long-shot effort rather than risk losing them to rivals. One person who has spoken to Fuchsia staff described the effort simply: “It’s a senior-engineer retention project.”
Now, Fuchsia looks like the most likely (if distant) successor to Android and possibly Chrome. Let’s wait for Google’s yet another creative innovation.
