Google has now updated Google Play Services to v7.5 which comes with a bundle of new features and will surely provide a number of improvements and optimizations to all Android devices for a better user experience. The new Play Services 7.5 will support all Android devices with Android OS 2.3 (Gingerbread) and higher. Google Play Services was updated (7.0) last in March with Google Fit, Nearby Connections, Places API and more.
The Play Services is set to come with a number of new features:
- Smart lock for passwords
- Instance ID’s
- App invites
- New API’s for Google Cloud Messaging
- Google Cast
- Access to Google Maps API on Android wear and many more
The Smart Lock for Passwords brings a new API and UI for Android users which will save credentials for later use on other Android devices and browsers. The Smart Lock is built on Chrome Password Manager. Password-based and Identity Provider (like Google Sign-In) credentials will be supported.
The Play services 7.5 will bring App invite service for Android and iOS. The users will be able to invite other users to install any specific app. Another feature is the Google Cast which will allow you to cast content from your Smartphone or laptop to your TV Sets or Speakers with ease.
Also there are other features like Access to Google Maps API on Android wear, improvements in Google Fit, Game Manager APIs for Google Cast, Autoplay and queuing APIs, etc.
