Google has finally released Android 5.0 Lollipop OS. A factory image of the same is available for Nexus devices that you can download from the official site for testing purpose. There are some custom ROMs on the web but I do not think they are actually built on the original Android 5.0 Lollipop Rom.
So here I am going to give you bit details on the things that are amazing in this new Tasty Lollipop. This all are the hidden features which are really effective and great to use. So here if you are having a Nexus 5 device then you might have surely got the update. If not then you can still wait for the same and read this guide to find the hidden features. And you can later on explore them all.
Settings Search:
Now in Android 5.0 Lollipop you can try to find various options through a simple search. The settings panel here is having a search bar through which you can find various things. It is very helpful when you are trying to locate a specific settings and you are confused to find the appropriate section.
Built-in Flashlight:
Android 5.0 Lollipop has a internal flashing app. You can use it whenever you want in a simple way. Before this there was not a flash light app and you have to use one from Google Play. Having this simple app is very helpful.
Easter Eggs:
Android 5.0 Lollipop has some Easter eggs also. These are nice animation that remain hidden and appear in the phone as a new update comes in. This is something good enough to make you happy or just to have fun with your phone. Almost all Android update comes with hidden Easter eggs. To find that go in Settings and tap on About Phone. And then tap on the Android version around 4 times continuously.When you see the lollipop, you need to tap it as well for few times and then comes the Easter Egg Flappy Bird.
Alarm Notification:
Android 5.0 Lollipop provides you a added functionality of having alarm in the notification. You can get that in the top bar and you can also find out when the next alarm is. And if you want to stop that just open the notification and long press the same. And done. You can then modify the options in it.
User Accounts Limitation:
Android 5.0 Lollipop also brings out a new modern feature where you can create different users and you can also limit their access. It is an great feature according to me and it is also required. For example you can turn on Guest profile on the same. This will limit the data of access in the phone. And you can further extend that features through settings. You can be the admin and create other users account with limited access.
Tap & Go Service:
This one is something new in Android 5.0 Lollipop. This only appears when you use for the first time and you will surely like the same. It is very simple to use and has amazing features. You can connect any other device to Android 5.0 Lollipop phone through NFC and you can transfer your phone data to the new device very easily. This is for creating a instant backup before running a new update. And then you can restore that easily.
Unwanted Notification:
This one is an another option that will help you to stop those annoying notification that you will keep on getting in your phone whenever you install new apps and games. This notification will really annoy and will not work well. So here you can block them and no longer will they disturb you. For that you have to long press the Notification that you don’t want anymore and choose block.
Smart Lock:
This one is very helpful. And it is will help you to securely transfer files between other phone through Bluetooth and device. You can add a trusted device in Bluetooth or NFC and the phone will only connect to them. This is very handy feature. Like in NFC you can connect the phone to any audio device. But once you enable smart lock the device will only connect to the device which is marked as trusted in it. You can find the option to turn that thing on in Settings.
Quick access:
Android 5.0 Lollipop UI is entirely different this time. You get lot of options in the notification bar itself from where you can customize the phone settings. You can get a Quick Access bar in the Notification panel from where you can configure more options. You just have to use two fingers to expand that.
Hide Notification from LockScreen:
Sometime it happens that you get a notification on your lock screen and you are quiet embarrassed with that. This time Android 5.0 Lollipop has a feature through which you can hide those important or personal notifications from lock screen so that no one can view it. For that you have to tap on Settings go in Sound and Notification. Then tap on When Device is locked and tap on Hide Sensitive Information.
