As expected, Apple just now introduced their S variants of newest iPhone, the new iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. We have been hearing and ready several rumors about both these devices. Finally, at the scheduled event, Apple revealed the truth with two new amazing iPhone devices. Let’s find out what we get with these ‘S’ iPhones.
Design:
The new iPhone 6S and 6S Plus are very similar in design to last years iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. However, Apple this time has used completely new Apple custom alloy with aluminium packaging. Even the display used in these new iPhones is made up with new Stronger glass. It is a 4.7 inch LED-Backlit IPS LCD display. The maximum resolution we get is the same as last year’s iPhone 6, i.e. 750 x 1334 pixels resolution.
As the rumor heard, both iPhone 6S and 6S Plus will be available in new Rose gold aluminum finish color variant along with Gold, Space Grey and White as we saw last year.
3D Force Touch:
We have already saw 3D Force Touch on Apple Watch and new MacBooks. Apple has now brought it to iPhone 6S and 6S Plus too. Force Touch is a technology that brings up an extra dimension to the screen we are. In other words, if you hard touch any content on the display, it will bring up that content as pop up. With these new iPhones, if you normally tap on the camera, it will bring you up with the camera option. But if you will use the Force Touch, that is Hard touch, than you will directly see the Selfie mode on your screen. Quite helpful.
Camera:
Finally, Apple has decided to make some more, or, a Huge improvement in their camera section. It is the first time, we are going to see a huge 12 Megapixel Dual-LED dual-tone flash iSight camera in iPhone. This is over 50% improvement in the camera done for iPhone 6S and 6S Plus.
But as we know, just increasing the Megapixel dont make the pictures amazing. So, Apple has also brought us ‘deep trench isolation’ technology that maintains the photo quality as well. We can now also record upto 2160p videos at 30 fps along with 1080p videos. Switching is very easy. The new iPhone 6S and 6S Plus also support slow-mo HD 720 @ 240 fps.
Now coming to the front camera, we get a 5 Megapixel shooter which is double faster sensor compared to earlier generations of iPhones.It would be great news for Selfie fans, that iPhone 6S carries front-facing LED flash as well. It can record upto 1080p Full HD videos. Apple has also make improvements i the TouchID.
The cameras now also have a new feature called Live Photos allowing you to capture short length videos with audio. This is played using 3D Touch.
A9 Processor:
Well, we read this in rumors also. Apple has powered up both iPhone 6S and 6S Plus with A9 processor. It is the 3rd generation 64-bit chip with new transistor architecture. Although we dont know the Cores or clock speed, but Apple not only claimed A9 70% faster in processing but also about 90% faster in Graphics performance compared to iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. For reminding, last year’s iPhone 6 and 6 Plus were launched with Apple A8 chip.
Connectivity:
The new iPhone 6S and 6S Plus supports LTE Cat. 4 (23 LTE bands up to 300mbps), Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/b/ac (866mbps), Bluetooth 4.1, A2DP, LE, A-GPS with GLONASS, NFC for Apple Pay and VoLTE support. These are very similar to what we got in last year’s flagships.
Pricing:
The 16 GB variant of iPhone 6S and 6S Plus will be priced exactly same as earlier, that is, $199 and $299 respectively. While the unlocked 16 GB variant will be available at $649. The 64GB unlocked will cost $749 and the 128GB unlocked variant will be available $849.

Availability:
The Apple iPhone 6S and 6S Plus will be available from September 25th in more than 12 countries. However, the iPhones will be up for pre-order starting September 12th.

To attract users from another platform such as Android, Apple is also releasing an application that will help users to switch from Android to iOS comfortably. Apart from this, Apple is launching a new program called ‘iPhone Upgrade Program’ allowing users to buy unlocked phone with Apple Care costing $32/month.
