After being in rumors and leaks for over months, finally Samsung Galaxy Note7 is now official. Samsung has just revealed the new Flagship at scheduled Unpacked Event. Being the premium phablet, Galaxy Note7 comes with really premium design, powerful specifications and feature packed improved S-Pen. Let’s take a quick deep look in the phone.
Design:
Samsung Galaxy Note7 is the first ever Note to come with IP68 rating making it Water and Dust resistance. It is also the first Note to feature dual-curved display and also has a curved back. It is surrounded with 3D curves and Metal finishing on the rear side. Being nearly bezel-less curves the display offers enough space for S-Pen.
At the front bottom Note7 has the same dedicated Home button with integrated Fingerprint Sensor, while on the top we now also get a Iris scanner for the first time. you can now also unlock the phone with your eye recognition.
Display:
Samsung Galaxy Note7 features a huge and amazing 5.7 inch Quad HD (2K)Super AMOLED curved edge display offering 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution and 518ppi pixel density with Always-on display feature. Samsung has protected the display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
Also known as AOD, the Always On Display gives you glance of every new notifications, date, times, etc without even waking up the phone. With this new smartphone, you can now also change Clock’s color and style, you can set custom signature, you can now pin a Screen-off memo and do much more to the Always On Display
S-Pen:
Not just the phone, but Samsung has also optimized the S-Pen seriously. It is also waterproof now. Compared to earlier 1.6mm tip, the new Note7’s S-Pen comes with just 0.7mm tip. It now also comes with improved pressure sensitivity. When you remove the S-Pen and hover over the display, its Air Command menu brings quick menu to create GIFs, translating words in images by simply hovering over, jot down notes without unlocking the screen. Wrote something wrong, simply press the side button and the pen will be the eraser.
Specifications:
Samsung has powered the Galaxy Note7 with Octa-Core Exynos 8890 (2.3GHz Quad + 1.6GHz Quad) 64 bit 14 nm processor which is further accompanied by 4GB LPDDR4 RAM making it a beast in performance as well as multitasking. As per storage, the phone comes with 64GB (UFS 2.0) built-in storage memory and supports MicroSD card up to 256GB for expansion. It has Hybrid dual SIM slots which means you can use the MicroSD card in the second slot.
As said, Galaxy Note7 is IP68 rated Water and Dust resistance device; and carries Heart rate sensor, Fingerprint sensor, Iris scanner and Barometer. Being the flagship it supports all major connectivity options including 4G LTE Cat.12, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2X2 MIMO), Bluetooth 4.2 LE, NFC and USB Type-C. The phone is backed up with 3500mAh battery supporting Fast charging on wire and wireless.
Camera:
Galaxy Note7 comes with 12 Megapixel primary shooter having dual-pixel PDAF, LED Flash, Smart OIS and f/1.7 aperture. It dual pixel camera makes the photos vibrant, brighter and sharper even in low light environment. For Selfie fans, it offers a 5 Megapixel front facing camera with f/1.7 aperture.
Software:
The new Note7 comes out of the box running Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system which is the latest one at the moment. It will be surely upgraded to Android 7.0 Nougat once it is officially rolled out by Google. The Custom UX from Samsung adds so many interesting features to the device including the ones we can use with S-Pen, and also the Edge panels. Since we know there’s no edge variant of Galaxy Note7, and while it comes with curved edge screen, Samsung has integrated all those Edge panels of S7 in this Note itself.
Edge Screen:
You can have your favorite apps, favorite contacts, Music and other important updates flick of the finger in Galaxy Note7 with the Edges. Customize it the way you want.
Price and Availability:
Samsung has not yet announced the price of Galaxy Note7 but said the phone will go on sale from August 19th in Blue Coral, Gold Platinum, Silver Titanium and Black Onyx color options. These are the same colors which we saw earlier in press images of Note7.
