After the launch of LG G3 in May 2014, LG has brought up an upgraded version in the G series, LG G4,which released on April 2015. You might be confused in selecting one of them depending on their features as well as price. Should you go to G4 or stick with your G3? Here we compare these two phones specifications and features.
Operating System
G3 came out of box with the latest version of Android at that time v4.4 KitKat which has optimus UI, when G4 launched this April, it came out of box with latest Android v5.0 Lollipop. Though G3 was launched with KitKat now it is upgradable to Lollipop, so it doesn’t make a big difference.
Display and Packaging
LG G3 has got True HD IPS + LCD capacitive touch screen of 5.5 inches display which gives resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. LG G4 also has IPS LCD 5.5 inches display, which gives the same resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. Both of these phones have Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
Coming to the body cover LG offers a genuine leather-clad rear cover in LG G4, it’s quite different form G3’s metallic skinned plastic cover, if one does not like leather cover, ceramic model is also available. Weight of LG G4 is nearly 6 grams more than LG G3.
Processing Power
LG G3 is powered with snapdragon 801 32 bit quad core 2.5GHz processor and 3GB of RAM. In LG G4 one of the major change is the processor which has been upgraded to Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 to Snapdragon 808. G4 runs on Snapdragon 808 64 bit hexa core 1.8GHz processor. Because of the upgraded processor LG G4 will run smoother and faster and will take more advantage of Android Lollipop.
Memory
Talking about memory, Lg G4 ships with 32GB internal memory by default and with 3GB RAM. It also supports expandable memory upto 128gb. There is no 16GB version of LG G4. On the contrary LG G3 comes with 16GB and 32GB internal memory and 2GB/3GB of RAM respectively, depending on which version you choose.
Camera
When it comes to camera, LG G4 has 16mp rear camera which has 3 megapixels more than the 2014 model LG G3, which had 13 megapixels. LG G4 also has a quick-launch shortcut for camera. G3 has 2.1 MP front camera and G4 has 8mp front camera, which is indeed a big difference, so one can click more selfies with G4, it gives good image quality.
Battery
G3 has Li-Ion 3000 mAh battery and G4 also has same Li-Ion 3000 mAh battery
